Hon. Governor, Northern Province, GA Chandrasiri made a visit to the Delft Island off Jaffna in the Northern Province on 11 August 2010. At the meeting held at the Community Centre in the Delft, matters with regard to Fisheries, Agriculture, Cooperatives, Education, Health and Local Government facilities were taken up for discussion.
In addition to the Government officials present, the public too participated at the discussion.
Visits were also made to the Divisional Hospital, Delft, where packets of powdered milk and mosquito nets were distributed. The Delft Central College, the Delft Pradeshiya Sabha and historical and archeological sites in Delft such as the Portuguese Forts, the Baobab tree, the Pigeon Roost (Pura Koodu) and other religious places were visited to get to know more about them and their present condition. In all these places the public were met with and packets of powdered milk and mosquito nets distributed.
Present at this visit were Mr. T.Rasanayagam, Deputy Chief Secretary – Provincial Public Administration, NP, Mrs. P.Sivalingam, Regional Commissioner, Jaffna, Mrs. Mathumathy Vasanthakumar, Regional Assistant Commissioner of Local Government, Jaffna, Mr. N.Thirulinganathan, Assistant Government Agent, Delft, Police, Naval and Army officials of the area and Departmental officials of the area.
வடமாகாண கௌரவ ஆளுநர் ஜீஏ.சந்திரசிறி அவர்கள் 11 ஆவணி 2010 அன்று யாழ்ப்பாணம் நெடுந்தீவு பிரதேசத்திற்கு விஜயம் செய்திருந்தார். மீன்பிடி விவசாயம் கூட்டுறவு கல்வி சுகாதாரம் உள்ளுராட்சி வசதிகள் போன்றவை தொடர்பில் நெடுந்தீவு சனசமுக நிலையத்தில் கலந்துரையாடல் ஒன்று கௌரவ ஆளுநர் தலைமையில் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளது. இக்கலந்துரையாடலில் அரசாங்க உத்தியோகத்தர்களும் பொதுமக்களும் கலந்து கொண்டனர்.
நெடுந்தீவு பிரதேச வைத்தியசாலைக்கு விஜயம் மேற்கொண்ட கௌரவ ஆளுநர் நோயாளிகளிற்கு பால்மா பைக்கற்கள், நுளம்பு வலைகள் போன்றவற்றை வழங்கினார்.
நெடுந்தீவு மத்திய கல்லுரி நெடுந்தீவு பிரதேச சபை தொல்பொருள் ஆய்வு இடங்களான போர்த்துக்கேயர் கோட்டை, புறாக்கூடு, பெருக்கு மரம் மற்றும் வணக்கஸ்தலங்கள் போன்றவற்றை பார்வையிட்டு அவற்றின் தற்போதைய நிலவரங்களை அறிந்து கொண்டார். இவ்விடங்களில் பொதுமக்களை சந்தித்ததுடன் அவர்களுக்கு பால்மா பைக்கற்கள் நுளம்பு வலைகளையும் வழங்கினார்.
